ISLAMABAD - The federal government has dissolved the Board of Directors (BoD) of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and also decided to launch a crackdown on political hiring in the company on contract basis at hefty salaries.

The decision has been made on the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who also ordered to show all the corrupt officers the door.

According to reports, the OGDCL’s BoD, in violation of rules and regulations, approved 40 per cent raise in the salaries of contract employees working on higher posts. The audit department of the company declared the recruitments and the increase in salary as illegal but the BoD increased the salaries anyway.

The salary and perks of OGDCL Executive Director Masood Nabisaal who has been working on contract since 2009 has been increased from Rs 0.8 million per month to Rs 1.94 million per month. Masood is son of a former minister and his salary is even more than the managing director of the OGDCL.

Similarly, Col. (r) Shafqat Hussain was hired on contract at Rs 2,50,000 per month and his package has been increased to Rs 9,58,164 per month.
