PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) head Mian Nawaz Sharif will take a final decision about the restoration of the membership of the party’s youth wing president Captain (Retd) Mohammad Safdar on his return from Saudi Arabia after Eidul Fitr, it was learnt.
A PML-N leader said that the party’s secretary eneral Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has prepared a note, which would be presented to Nawaz Sharif along with the reply of Captain (Retd) Safdar on his return from Saudi Arabia. He said Pir Sabir Shah and Mohammad Safdar, who had adopted strict stand against each other, have now demonstrated flexibility and expressed the hope that their differences would be amicably resolved.

Jhagra had suspended membership of Mohammad Safdar for 10 days on the directives of Nawaz Sharif. A show-cause notice was also served on him for describing the sitting and former provincial presidents of the party, Pir Sabir Shah and Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan, as traitors.

In his reply, Safdar presented video of the meeting that took place in Mansehra and said he had never termed the two PML-N leaders as Mir Jaffar and Mir Sadiq. He maintained that the participants raised slogans against Sabir Shah and Sardar Mehtab and asked for the appointment of Amir Muqam as provincial president of the party. He also sought forgiveness if his remarks had hurt the feelings of anyone. PML-N Youth WingInformation Secretary Ali Khan Yousafzai, however, said Safdar’s membership was restored automatically after the expiry of the 10-day period.

Talking to The News, he and other activists of the PML-N Youth Wing who had declared to resist the move against Safdar, claimed that his membership had been restored on the 11th day of the suspension order.

Sources said Jhagra would hold meetings with Sabir Shah and other leaders in a bid to end the differences, which had tarnished the image of the PML-N.Sincere Muslim Leaguers, the sources said, were worried about the ongoing confrontation. They felt that other parties were getting prepared for the next general election, but the PML-N leaders were engaged in resolving the internal strife in their ranks.
